Clean up and recovering in the aftermath of Saturday, March 2, residential house explosion at 107 East Eleventh Street in Wood River continues, especially for those closest to the explosion.
The Cairo Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual Smorgasbord this Saturday, March 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Cairo Community Center. This year’s smorgasbord will be dine in and drive thru.
Saturday, May 25, 2024, is the date for the Gibbon Alumni Banquet honoring the classes having graduated in years ending with “4.” Graduates of Gibbon High School of 2024 will be the honored guests. ACE, the Public Alliance for Community Energy, is distributing $4,640 to the City of Gibbon as its share of $350,000 being distributed through ACE’s revenue return program to the 76 Nebraska member communities of the not-for-profit, community-owned natural gas supplier.
The String Beans will be performing in Wood River on Monday, March 11, as part of the Celebrate Wood River Performing Arts Series. Performance time is 6:00 p.m. at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater.
