Ed was born November 2, 1941, in Palmer to George H. and Barbara T. (Swirczek) Brown. He grew up in Wolbach and then the family moved to Clarks where he attended school. After Ed’s father passed away, he had to leave school to help on the family farm.

In 1974, he bought a boat and camper and the family spent time camping and enjoying the Harlan Reservoir. He owned and operated Brown’s Repair Shop in Wood River and then Alda until he retired in 1999.

Ed was on the Wood River Volunteer Fire Department for 12 years and with the Alda Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. He was proud to serve his community and met many friends over the years.

Ed served as a councilman in Wood River for over 15 years.

He was a member of the Masons. In his free time, he liked to watch Nascar and sprint car races and playing cards, especially pitch. His greatest love and joy above everything else was spending time with his family.
