Mildred Irene Stade

Mildred Irene Stade, of Grand Island, died on January 9, 2024, at CHI Health St. Francis. Funeral Service was held Wednesday, January 17, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lowell, with Pastor Paul Duffy officiating. Burial followed in the Liberty Cemetery.

Mildred was born on the fourth day of February at the family home on a farm north of Heartwell, to Samuel and Bessie (Baker) Jorgensen. She grew up in the country of the Heartwell and Minden area.

She received her education from Minden High School and Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney. She then taught country school for seven years. Mildred was united in marriage to Leonard Stade on June 28, 1953, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lowell. After which the couple lived near Shelton where she was an active farm wife.

She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Paul Lutheran ladies aid, and buffalo county just a mere extension club. Mildred also served as a Sunday and Bible School teacher. She enjoyed music, dancing, and most recently karaoke, watching T.V. and listening to radio shows, reading, and visiting with friends and family.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Debra Stade, of Grand Island; son, David Stade, of Shelton; sister, Kristi Jorgensen, of Central City; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Stade; parents; brothers, Newton (Louis) Jorgensen, Glenn Jorgensen, and Rex Jorgensen; sisters:, Ruth (Jack) Day and Ethelyn Jorgensen; and grandparents.
